This feature layer displays the Authority Charge boundaries for 911 service areas in the State of Colorado. Authority Charge boundaries refer to distinct areas where telecommunications companies must pay 911 remittance charges back to. If a 911 call is placed in a given area, the telecommunications company that handles the call must pay a remittance fee back to the authority in which the call was placed. For example, if a call was placed in Fort Collins, the charge would be paid to LETA.
This data was produced by the Governor's Office of Information Technology in cooperation with the Public Utilities Commission 911 Advisory Task Force (DORA). Local officials were consulted extensively to finalize boundaries. As boundaries are updated, this map will be updated to reflect those changes.
