The MPO Boundary feature layer models the boundaries of the Pikes Peak region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) administered by the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG). The data in this feature class is developed by PPACG from information provided by or acquired from the Colorado State Department of Transportation (CDOT), and adjusted to coincident boundaries of the Route_Centerlines feature class and El Paso County and Teller County parcel boundaries. MPOs are a federally mandated organization established to represent localities in all urbanized areas (UZAs) with populations over 50,000 in order to facilitate the regional coordination of transportation planning.
The 'Name' field records the name of the MPO, while the 'AdminBody' field identifies the entity responsible for administering the coordination and execution of regional planning operations pertaining to the MPO. The 'Yr_Approve' field logs the year the current MPO boundaries were approved. The remaining fields primarily describe the size and area of the region.
